Hi, I did some research here earlier and ran across a formula for figuring WPG. Should have noted the topic as now I can't find it even in search?

I'm rethinking my tank and I have a Coralife 65W x 2 12,000K light.

After my research here, I've learned several mistakes I made when I first tried to keep plants. I had given up long ago but now I'd like to try again.

Hi,
You total the wattages of the lights over the tank and
divide that total by the capacity of the tank.
2x65 = 130. 130/55 = 2.4 watts per gallon (wpg) and is
considered in the lower medium, range.

1-2wpg Low light
2-3wpg medium
3+ wpg high range

The temperature is a bit high at 12,000K. I'd stick with
lights in the 8800 - 10,000K range unless the 55 is non
standard and 24 inches high, in that case I'd use the ones
you have (12,000K).
