I was told that I could plant plants like java fern, anubias nana, and anubias barteri in low light conditions. Do I just plant these plants (tie java fern to rock or drift wood) or is it really necessary to use fertilizers. If it is necessary what ferts do I need to use with these type of plants? Thank you

Hi,
You can tie, rubberband, staple, whatever, the ferns
to driftwood. The roots will anchor in the wood and
eventually, the plant will cover the wood.

They are considered a low light, low damand plant
and your tank should be just fine with them.

If you have a newly established (cycled) tank, with
very few fish, then you might need to add fert.
If that is the case, I'd suggest a "multiple vitamin"
type fert such as liquid such as Flourish.

If you have an established tank, with a normal loading,
then you probably do not need to add fert.
