Gang,

As some of you might know I have recently (9 weeks ago) set up a [link=125G Planted]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Planted%20Aquaria/64425.html?200511281134" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link]. One of the things that bother me a little is the lack or the excess of water flow on this 72” long entity. The tank is filtered by an Eheim Pro II only, intake is located in the left back corner. I tried various settings, spraybar vertical along the back, horizontal top on the left tank side blowing across the surface (just below, of course), addition of Rio 200 pump placed in one corner after the other, a Rio 90 pump. It is always the same, either the current doesn’t reach the other side of the tank or it is so strong that my plants wave around too much (all “leaning” to one side) and the surface agitation is too strong.

So here are a few questions:

- Have I just not found the right settings yet?
- Do I have wrong expectations?
- Does anyone with a similar tank size experiment with output tubing, like creating a return that is basically a very long spraybar along the back of the entire tank?
- If you have a large tank, how do you solve this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Ingo

LF,

http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Technical%20Tinkering/65498.html

Look for a post by tek with a link in it. He has some pictures of his set up. I think that this might help you out for some pluming ideas if I am on the right track.

Have you thought about setting up powerheads on both sides of the tank then having your spray bar in the middle? I am just pondering. The biggest tank I have ever had is a 55 so I don't really have the same problems. Any ways I hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks Guys

I will check it out in detail later as, for some odd reason, I am loaded with work.

tetratech - with canopy you mean the entity that is as high as the entire tank? It sure is impressive.

Ingo

EDIT: OK - I looked at it. The plumbing looks good, except it is a little thicker than I expected (and white - I would like it to be black).

Wingsdlc - The problem I see with the spraybar in the middle and powerheads on each side is the current the 3 would create. Maybe tetratech's idea of intake on one end and output on the other would work (but then I would need new hoses as mine are cut to size now, grrr).

I have the same filter, did you get the extra adjustable three piece spray bar with your filter. There was a special package that came out with it.

My outlet is situated at the RH end horizontal and just below the water surface. I have two sections down and one going across just under the surface. At the back LH corner is the inlet it is next to the heater therefore it forms a duel job (I have two heaters) I also have two fine ceramic 4ins air stones each powered by its own powerfull air pump.

I can assure I have plenty of water movement.

The canister is pulled down monthly this includes cleaning the impellar.

The water was lowered to take this photo

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://
