I'm using the following formula to make Co2:

Sugar
Yeast
Protein Powder
Baking Soda

The mix only seems to be effective for 2 weeks. Anyone know if I should increase/decrease something or add something else.

I'm using a similar mixture, and I keep two bottles and switch one out every week, thus getting a more reliable and stable concentration of CO2.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

Mine lasts for longer than 2 weeks not sure I can say how long it does last though :%).....
You want to be careful that you dont add too much yeast as they can just end up killing themselves by making too much waste and thereby not lasting as long.
And make sure you shake well once a week or so.

I haven't been shaking it at all.
I guess I'll do that. Do any of you use Molyasses in addition to the other ingredients I listed.

im using the same recipe..but i dont put any protein powder...mine last for only 11 days of continuous co2 production then, it tapered off and thats the time i change it coz of irregularity...other people put flour...and seems to last longer... never tried one though...

ive heard also...other sources of sugar seems work better than the regular white one...also....what kind of yeast u use...others say...using champagne yeast lasts u to 3 or so weeks...but others...a regular baking yeast will do the same...

i wana know the real score coz...poeple contradict one another and dont know who to follow!!!

Tankie,

I'm using Actived Dry Yeast and Spiru-Tein Soy Protein Powder.

I'm using about 1/4 tsp of the yeast and 1 tsp of the protein powder and 1 cup of regular granulated sugar in a 1.89 litre diy bottle.

I actually have a hagen cansister that I also use and I t-valve the setup into my 46gallon tank.
