Hi ya'll meant to post about this yesterday, but was kind of brain dead, ok i admit it i was totally brain dead

Tomorrow is the fish auction, and last time around there were tons of plantsSo the question is:

Can ya'll help me make a list of plants that are hard to kill?

1. Lighting is low.
2. Fertilization is uh when it might dawn on me:%)
3. Substrate is sandblast gravel. (small natural stone that is smooth)
4. No CO2, or anything fancy...
5. And might I add I tend to kill plants?

So what plants might ya'll suggest to try? If ya'll can help me come up with a list, I'll look for those tomorrow at the auction and try to get some more plants

Thanks, Heidi

Hornwart, anacharis, any type of anubias plant, crypt wendtii green & red, most other crypts as well, and maybe green hygro, though it tends to like high light better. Sometimes sword plants can grow in low light if they have some root tabs nearby.

If I can grow the Anubias any one can very easy to look after and once established they will multiply very quickly.

I do have to say my anubias is one plant I never have to worry about. It just grows no matter what else goes wrong with the tank. Algae or no algae, nutrient deficieny, green water, a week long black out.. It just keeps growing new leaves. The other 2 plants that give me the fewest problems are the crinums and the 4 leaf clover but I haven't placed crinums in low light so I don't know if they'd be a good idea.

Java fern, anubias, and various crypts. I want to redo my entire 20 gallon (again) all in anubias varieties.

Heidi... if you find anubias barteri var nana petite (petite nana)... add that to my package? I'll wuv you forever! ... Not that I don't already.

ok so the list includes:

anacharis (i have this and can't kill it)
java moss (also have this and it's multiplying worse than the guppies)

hornwort, if this is the stuff that resembles Christmas trees then I won't touch it it lives about 3 days and dies soon after:%)

crypt wendtii
crypt (various others)
java fern

and for my sweet kitten if it's there:
anubias barteri var nana petite

anything else?

I've got about uh 8 hrs till i go to the store, then from there to the auction, so about 9 hrs before it beginslet me know if you can think of any other "Heidi Can't Possibly Kill This Plant" types

I've been told that water sprite might survive me, anyone know for sure one way or another?

I mostly killed my water sprite. I got several large plants but now all I have left are these little chunks from the new growth when I first got it. All the large main plants died completely. The little chunks gain new leaves and roots but almost seem to be growing slower than my anubias. I thought it was suppose to be an easy plant...

Ok I'm back from the auction here are the plants that I now have

5 bunches (various size bunches) of Anubias Nano
3 large packages of Java Fern
1 larger pack of Crypts (what kind? I don't remember off hand)
1 huge bundle of Hornwort
2 bundles of Texas Star

So tonight I'll drop it in a tank, maybe the new 5 and then tomorrow I'll mess with it

Yeppers, I've got plants, and uh a couple new tanks5 gallon mini bow, 6 gallon, and I won the raffle for the 24 gallon Oddyssea

pics later,
Heidi
