are there any easy care floating plants readily available in the US that will do ok with about 6 hours of artificial light and 3-4 hours of afternoon sunlight from a window? its a 29 gallon tank, single 15w bulb.

im starting with planting my tank, i got some plants(cant remember the names) that the local fish guru said were easy care (bulb plant of some sort, reminds me of how a onion looks) and a couple others he said would do ok. waters on the soft side, ph at 7.0,temperature 80 degrees.

so, what do i need to know? im thinking some floaters so my tetras will venture further to the upper parts of the tank

Duckweed, for one. Probably sylvania or however you spell that too.

Water sprite grows like a weed once it gets going whereas duck weed is a weed and can cause problems in filters etc. I will not buy any fish or plants that have duck weed in their tanks.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

is duckweed that little stuff that is about 5mm and clover like, gets in filers and gets on and in everything? i hate that stuff

water sprite...got it. BTW, is about 6 of florescent(cant spell) light and a few hours of afternoon sun enough for your average plant?

There's always water lettuce too. Much bigger, and has nice long roots.
