hey there

so i finally got the tank up and running and cycling and everything and finally got some plants in there woo hoo!

i got the plants off the internet, they sent them monday and i recieved them tuesday. they all seem good except the swords seem a bit brown around the edges- kind of like lettuce when it gets old! i planted everything and it looks pretty cool- im just wandering should i add any ferts or anything or just let them settle and see what happens? is it normal for swords to get like this, im wandering if is should ring up to ask about them, they turned out to be the cheapest item on the order when i thought they may be the most expensive, im wandering if they didnt have so good ones so just gave me them cheap to see what would happen or something. i dont know.

unfortunatly i dont have the digi cam back otherwise i would try and post a picture.

cheers dan

I generally think it's a good idea to get the N,P,K in there from the getgo, but in reduced dosages, because the plants won't use much until they get settled in. That may take a week or so. I usually wait on the micros until I start to notie new growth.

If you are not happy with any plants tell then NOW not weeks later. Did you float any of the plants first? I have always floated plants for at least two weeks this allows the roots to establish to the new conditions.

I use in the Betta tank Seachem Ferts and they seem to be OK but in the 5ft tank I only use a LFS own brand and that also works.
If you live in SE Melb I can give you the contact number.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

i only floated the plants whilst i worked out where they would go- i decided just to plant them and see if they got better rather than return them as its been a long wait in getting them! i live in albury so its quite a trek to melbourne or sydney. i will keep you posted as to if they all die or not- the rest look fine only the swords.
