Okey so you may have noticed me bumbling around accumulating knowledge with the aim of setting up a south american themed planted tank which started out as a project to re home 3 black widow tetra (some i dont know how many months ago)! well here is the first picture in all its cheap mobile phone glory!!!

(my digital camara is being repaired we spoke to pentax today- its fixed and has to travel from melbourne to sydney (past my house) so they can post it back to me!!!)

so it has been sitting cycling for maybe 3 months now. about 2 weeks ago i added 12 neon tetra, then more recently (monday) the plants, then today the 3 black widow tetra. as for plants there are 3 bunches of wisteria creeping up the back left, 3 of hygrophilia willow up the back right 2 of hornwart in the middle and 2 of bacopa mid right. the mess on your left is a couple of swords and 3 tropica swords. there are a few crypts down the front with a few patches of hair grass. then in the middle there a bunch of milfoil which i was thinking of replanting individually. on the driftwood there are 3 patches of java fern. its 50 gallon and the lighting is 2x HO54W t5s 6700K, the substrate is JBL aquabasic plus under an inch and a half of gravel.

oh yeah i painted the back drop myself then got a print place to copy and laminate it. unfotunatly it came out a lot darker and less defined than i had hoped but i will post a picture of the original painting when i get the camara cos that would have been cool (its an under water design with lightrays striking underwater mangrove roots- you can see the light rays a little in the top left corner next to filter intake- the original is exactly the same size as the tank and i aim to hang it above the aquarium).

what do you think?
