I've also had a lot of luck with anacharis. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

Also dwarf lily bulbs will send up pads that the gourami will like also- the bulbs are readily available at walmart/ petsmart, ect... |

Also I have never had that much success with hornwort. Sometimes it just breaks up and dies on me. Other times it consumes all my nitrates but does not grow much.[/font] |

I have it in my 5 gallon betta tank and it looks awesome. Just make sure you actually have it floating, so it gets enough light.(unless you already have a well lit tank.) I hate hornwort! It always breaks apart or gets covered in algae, IME. Anacharis has grown fine in all of my tanks, but it's not the prettiest floating plant you could get. Their roots drop down into the water from the floating leaves. Because they are not rooted in the gravel, the roots draw their nutrients from the water that they hang down into. These are especially good to control the nitrates in the tank, and will also provide shade for the lower light demand plants such as crypts and Java Fern etc. They also provide excellent shelter for baby fish that are hiding from the adults. Anacharis, wisteria, hornwart, ricia, are but a few of many plants that are considered floating plants. Frank ![]() -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |
