I've watched the algae disappear from my tanks by doing this. Also keep the C02 going. The plants need all the help they can to out-do the algae. Cheers, James. |

The algae will return if the root cause is not found and addressed. Azn, Need to know size of tank, how much light, what and how much ferts you are using, what plants and how many, water parameters and the type of algae you are having. Without this information it's justing shooting in the dark and any advice given could cause more harm then good. i have a bunch of plants right now but i havent looked em up yet so i dunno their names. So how do you know what they need and how to take care of them ? You need to find out what plants you have. Take care of the plants and you'll have very few problems with algae.(Not trying to be nasty, just a bit of tough love ![]() Try to get the above info amd we can take it from there ![]() Last edited by bensaf at 04-Mar-2005 00:26 Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

Decide what type you are plagued with and then take appropriate steps to rid your tanks of it. http://www.otocinclus.com/articles/algae.html http://www.freshwateraquariumplants.com/freshwateraquariumalgae.html http://www.wetwebmedia.com/PlantedTksSubWebIndex/algcontags.htm Frank ![]() -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

I'd continue with the recommended water changes (20% weekly) and add more hornwart it is a "nitrate sponge" a greedy little plant, it will soak up the excess nitrates like a kid with ice cream on a hot day. This is because the "Brazilian" Sword is not a true aquatic plant. It will last for a few weeks in the tank and then die off, probably fouling up your water in the process. Better to take it out.
