![]() | Heavily Planted Tank |
Manix![]() Hobbyist Posts: 62 Kudos: 48 Votes: 0 Registered: 18-Aug-2004 ![]() ![]() | I've seen pictures of tanks heavily planted with real/fake plants with other decors such as driftwood. I'm wondering with the tank heavily planted, how will cleaning the gravel work? Wouldn't it be hard to use a Gravel Vac? The reason i'm asking is because I am considering heavily planting my tank in the near future. Thanks in advance.:%) |

They use the debris as fertilizers, so they end up helping you out. With fake plants, you may have to pull all the plants up (which will stir up a LOT of junk) and syphon out under all that. I've had to deal with both, not too fun on the fake plant side ![]() |

The only place I can clean is along the front, this varies from 3-5ins. I also have a full UG and a large Eheim canister. I just don't worry about it at all. The smaller anubias along the front are fixed to rocks which means I can remove them if I think it is necessary. For more details about my tank look in "My Profiles" Keith ![]() ![]() keithgh attached this image: [img]http://www.fishprofiles.net/attachments/425986.jpg"] Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. My plants take up every square inch of substrate in my tank, with my taller plants to towards the back and sides, and my glosso in the front. I try and fish out any dead plant material if I see it though. |
