I'm just getting back into a planted tanks after years of chiclids. I have bought some hygro & val, how should I plant theese to ensure good growth?? I have 2 watt ++ I just really am wondering more about the roots. Should theese be buried like an sword plant or just weighted down like a Jave fern?? Wanted some java fern but all looked crappy.

Insert them into the substrate like a sword. The hygro stems should be planted individually with a spacing of an inch or more. Same is true for the val. Be sure not to bury the "crown" of the val or the spot where the straplike foliage comes together.
