Hi,
In the picture, it almost looks like two plants.
The left side would appear to be Corkscrew Val.
The blade on the right side appears more vivid a
green, and a heavy flat blade suggestive of Jungle
Val, or Sag.

Definitely a val of some sorts. Personally I've never had luck with them in any sort of lighting, bad luck I guess.

Hi,
The Corkscrew Val, and others prefer bright light, I'd
say at least 2 watts/gallon, although in a shallow tank
such as a 10G you might get by with 1 or more watts/gallon.

I say give it a try, i found any species of valls very adaptive to light conditions, i's had them in high ligh tanks and low light tanks, and they do well, the only difference i notice it growth and greener colors. Give it a week and see how it's doing in your tank, they are fast growers and fast diers so in a week you should know, if it doesen't die you can get some more, they will grow slower though.
