I im thinking about buing a metal halide light and have been told that you need a cooling system in your tank beacuase the lights warm the water up in summer and i was wondering was is the cheapest and best way to cool your tank down form the lights

Hi,
Most of the time MH lights are hung, suspended from the
ceiling on chains, above the aquarium. This gives the
light a larger "foot print" and also keeps the heat away
from the tank. If you choose to set the MH light on the
tank, in canopy style, then you will need to provide fans
to pull cooler air from one end of the canopy past the
bulb(s) and out the other end. Even then you may have
to invest in a chiller for use during the warmer months
of Spring, Summer, and Fall.
