Forget the Amazon sword, it'll get way too big. I've had them outgrow a 65gal.

The Ludwigia might survive but won't do well, it certainly won't be red.

15watts over a 10g is mathemathically 1.5wpg. But that doesn't mean a whole lot with a small tank. Whatever way you look at it it's still only a 15 watt bulb which will grow next to nothing.

You need to be looking at closer to 30-40watts to succeed.

The Amazon sword would be huge in that tank that is if it could grow. They require a far bigger tank.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://

Bensaf has it. Pretty much all red plants are notorious for having very high light requirements, and if they don't get what they want they will turn green and/or simply die (depending on the species).

Amazon Swords are also not a very good idea... Under the right conditions they can grow to tremendous proportions. I personally have seen them almost three feet tall with what must have been about 150 leaves (I pulled a two-foot tall one from my tank about six months ago).

I would recommend Anubias nana for your tank. I transferred a large one (rhizome about 9" long) into my ten gallon tank with a 15 watt compact fluorescent bult, and it is growing excellent. Just this week it has put out three or four new leaves.

That would be fine, I'm sure we're all willing to help you out.
Also, try to find them online. I've ordered from freshwateraquariumplants.com and, and they're pretty good. I've even bought some on ebay before. Only thing is, the weather might be a negative factor in shipping right now, depending on where you live.

How about some simple Anacharis? Also on my light it says 15 watts, but on the back it says 19 watt? So i think when i replace it will be 19 watts. Will it be that much more?

Mondo Grass is not a true aquatic plant and it will die if kept in water for more than a few months. Anacharis is fine.

As Cory mentioned, Anacharis will do just fine (planted or floating), as would Java ferns and Java moss (if you can find it.)

Best of luck, and don't get discouraged.

granted i am still a novice, but that java moss is MESSY!!!
lol, it made a mess in my tank and grew rapidly. it is very natural looking though and adds color and character to rocks and drift wood, best part is that under low light conditions it does ok.
