OldTimer Mega Fish USAF Retired Posts: 1181 Kudos: 1294 Votes: 809 Registered: 08-Feb-2005	I recently purchased 4 Java Fern plants from an internet supplier and 2 of the plants have numerous black spots (I'm assuming these are seeds?) that are beginning to grow plantlets from them. Is this typical of this plant? I was under the assumption that reproduction was from the ryzome. Was I mistaken in my assumptions? Jim Water, taken in moderation, cannot hurt anybody. -- Mark Twain

That information was really informative and helpful. I wasn't sure if this was the norm or not, but the plants that I received only consisted of 2 or 3 leaves. Like I said 2 of them had these black spots, which I now know are spores on the leaves and they are starting to produce a bunch of new ferns from them. I need more plants so I guess that's good.
