OK, I know the stuff can attach to just about anything but smooth glass, but how well would it attach to plastic decorations? For example, I have two rock "grottos" stacked in my cichlid tank, and thought Java Fern clinging to the crevaces would look very nice and not be destroyed by my hungry ones. Has onyone tried this before, or am I just a nut for considering it?:%)

I have never considered it, but then again I do not have any plastic decorations in my tank. I have a batch of java fern that pretty much swallowed a large rock whole and you can pick the heavy rock up just by holding the java fern alone now! I would think that with some gentle coaxing it would attach for you. You may have to get a little creative with getting it tied down at first though! LOL!

Actually, this is the only tank I have now with plastic decorations... but my cichlids seem to like my odd decorating style.

The way I have the grottos stacked, I can probably wedge a couple clumps in between the two. I'm just not sure about the bubble-wall that gives a reverse waterfall effect around the top grotto, it may be a bit strong for unanchored Javas. I can always resort to more thread... unless the cichlids decide that it looks like food.

LOL! That was why I said you may have to get a little creative with getting it tied down! Good luck with it! Java Moss might look pretty cool as well... just a thought.

Is the plastic smooth or does it have rough surfaces?

I dont have any plastic in my tank. My Jave fern is tied to a rock.

I would use nylon fishing line instead of cotton as it could take longer to grip on the plastic that is if it will grip.

Jave Moss will grow on glass the tank I saw it in was well planted and it was using Co2

The plastic is rough, cut out to look like a rock cave. Here's a picture of the smaller version to give you an idea...

Or you can see how I have them stacked in the bottom picutre here....

I've never thought of doing this before, as my plated tanks all have driftwood for the Java to anchor to. I guess I'll just have to get some Java Fern clumps and test this out. Wish me luck!

It should work fixing it to the plastic but it could be difficult to do though.

Hey, I can work with difficult. the most difficult part however, will be making sure my cihclids don't move them until anchored.

Just use more fishing line you will be able to cut it away when it attaches its self but could take up to 12 months depending on their growth.
