Java Fern roots | |
cdnAndrew Small Fry Posts: 4 Kudos: 5 Votes: 0 Registered: 21-Jun-2007 | In my 29g tank, among other plants, I have two java ferns. One is rather small and anchored to the tip of some Driftwood, while the other, larger one, I 'planted' in the gravel (didn't know at the time that they grew better when anchored on driftwood, and don't have any wood available right now). I've been adding "Flourish Excel" occasionally, and since I started adding that, I've noticed that my ferns are extending what looks like roots from the tips of their leaves. They don't seem to be branching new shoots or anything, just getting "hairy". I suspect that this is 'normal' behaviour, given that my plants are both doing it, however does it 'mean' anything? Am I supposed to be trimming those off of the plants? Any help / advice is greatly appreciated. Andrew |
