Also when left to its own accord and free floating Java fern will not attach to a surface unless it becomes lodged there. The easiest methods for attaching Java moss is to get black cotton thread used for sewing, then pull out the decor you want the Java moss on from the tank, place the java moss in a thin la then get you string and wrap it around many times, so that the java moss is snuggly (not to tightly) attached to the ob the moos will have attached itself to the wood. The cotton thread will disintegrate over time so you do not have to worry too much about it. If you want Java moss to be in the foreground, simple drop a few pebbles from the substrate an top of a thin la this will anchor it and allow it to attach to the substrate. HTH, Megil. ![]() |

I placed mine so that it was lodged between the tank and some driftwood. The other I placed a small piece of driftwood on it. The other I poked in a hole on a piece of fake driftwood and stuffed it down by a plant w some gravel. I am not going to tank these things out of the tank. Id never get them fixed back. I cant keep my hands out of the tank as it is! I am constantly trying to fix this and that. So, I quess Ill just have to hope it latches on. Its been in there about a week. |

Hi, Patience is, perhaps, the most important thing to learn when dealing with a planted tank. This is especially so in a low light tank. The low light plants just seem to grow along like snails while in high light tanks with CO2 injection I swear you can actually watch some plants grow. In my tank I have plants that you would have to take a picture of and a week later take another to see any growth, yet take a weeks vacation and come back and they have suddenly grown inches.. I also have plants in my tank that I can see 1-2 inches growth inside a week. As I mentioned in Aquascaping to you, take a picture of the tank and post it there. Folks will have all sorts of input for you to consider as you ponder the "look" you want the tank to have. Then you have to wait, while the plants fill in the look.
