If they have stored the nutrients that they need, then they should be good for 3-4 days. Expect that they will have wilted, and the weaker ones won't make it. When you do turn the lights back on, if you have two bulbs use one for one day and then turn both on. If you only have one, then you might want to shade the plants. Going from ambient light to full sun can shock them and in their weaked state that may do them in. Frank ![]() -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

One thing to look out for is this. Some plants may have an acellerated growth temporarily with out the lights on. My dad had left his lights out for 3 whole days only to find that his lily plants(newly sprouted from bulbs) had grown from 3 in. high to about 8 in. high. Make sure to tell us if any of your plants do this and what type. Does anyone know what does this? On the other hand some plants will look bent over. I really wouldnt go past 4 days with no light though. ![]() |

With the lights out, the plant "thought" that it had been flooded deeper, and in response to that and the "desire" for light, it sent shoots towards further towards the surface to get the needed sunlight. It did so rapidly in order to survive. It probably slowed down, "stepped back" when the lights came on while it recouped expended energy and stocked up on nutrients. Then it resumed growth at a possibly slower rate. Frank ![]() Last edited by FRANK at 16-Oct-2004 21:20 -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

A few are starting to bend over but I am going to turn on the lights tomorrow for a bit. Then when I am done medication I will resume normal lighting. |
