I've recently bought some lilaeopsis and I'm trying t figure out what to do with it.

as usual it came in a little pot, and I took some time to break up the clumps of rhizomes but the question is, what should I do to get to grow nicely, and more to the point, it's a little tall, can I trim it?

*imagines giving the lilaeopsis a haircut* ]

That's microsword, right? I separated the rhizomes and planted them 1" or so apart in the substrate. I'm hoping that they will form a nice carpet. I would like to know the same things.

I've heard, however, that it only stays low to the ground under high light, and that under less light, it will get quite tall.

I've got 3wpg.

I'm sure that's enough

I've heard that it should be planted as and entire clump, like a single plant as separating the roots may shock the plant, but it should spread naturally from it's planted spot.

I've yet to be able to get some though, so I really don't know - can you let me know if yours grows well from your methods. (Thanks if you can remember me when your plants are thriving and spreading )

Regards, Deb

3wpg should be sufficient. It will grow well in an enriched substrate like flourite, but root tabs can also be used.

Seperate the large clump out into smaller plantlets and plant them in the desired area. You can seperate the plantlets by cutting the runner, which is horizontal bit that attaches the plants to one another. Doing this will allow it to fill in over a larger area at a faster rate.

Hi,
Check out these comments:

There were others, but these might help you.
Many folks break them into small groups and
plant them with tweezers a half inch apart and
let them grow together to form a lawn. Much
the same as with some grasses for your home's lawn.

Cheers Frank, I check the krib for most of my info.

It still doesn't say anything about trimming it however.

I guess there's one way to find out...

Trimming is not necessary. Under high light, it will grow very low to the substrate, sending up blades approx. 1-1.5".
