My New Soil Planted Tank... | |

Brengun Big Fish Posts: 355 Kudos: 187 Votes: 110 Registered: 22-Jun-2007 | The plants look they are growing well. Nothing worse when starting plants is all the bottom of the tank looks great but there is a great expanse of clear water at the top till the plants grow up a bit. |

IMO that expanse of pale gravel at the front needs something to break it up a bit, either some low plants or some more hardcape - rocks or DW or something... From the looks of your pictures there is no soil in the tank, just a new "Substrate" that is white gravel. We use the term "Substrate" to describe what is on the bottom of the tank for plants. The substrate can be anything from crushed coral to regular aquarium gravel, to actual potting soil. Each requires a different manner of handling. bratyboy2 Big Fish Posts: 355 Kudos: 340 Votes: 1 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | GT- i have tried looking into the low growing stuff but i have no clue what i want to do yet because i have only 2 watts...the co2 will be diy because im so cheap lol Frank-its actually pool filter sand and the soil is under that to keep it from leaking...i hate white gravel ew!!! never once have used it i need some ideas for fish and i now that i think about it i might order some moss and get it to grow on the flat rocks...to much to do |
