Need some Advice for my tank | |
weighates Hobbyist Posts: 56 Kudos: 44 Votes: 1 Registered: 20-Jun-2005 | I currently have a 125 gallon tank with 225 watts 6.5k lights on it. I am possible looking to add another 65 watt light fixture to this tank. I currently have Seachem flourish and Seachem Potassium. I just setup the tank with plants from the petshop that are low to moderate lighting. I have no co2 but I do have good aereation for the tank. I would say the tank is moderatley planted. How often should I add my ferts. Yesterday I added both and then did a 50% water change to reset the tank. And do you think I should add more lighting and/or co2 to ensure my plants health. I know I have Water wysteria and some grass and a couple swords but most of the plants werent labeld or anything. Thanks a ton for any help Chris PS- as a substrate I am using 50% fine gravel 50% flourite. Also a recommendation on a fertilizer regime would be of great help. |

Primary plants are polysperma difformis, ceraptoris thalictroides, echinodorus rubin, e. bleher, saggitaria sublata, bacopa carolinia, cryptocoryne wendtii green, c. wendtii brown and c. crispatula balansae. I do not use CO2. I dose 0.75 tspn KNO3 per day with 1 tablespoon of Excel. The crypts, swords and unmentioned lilies receive root tabs every two weeks. Water changes are 50% at least twice a week. I would begin a water test log to determine what happens to your water on a daily or every other day basis. Since I assume your tank is cycled and stocked at a fish level that you will maintain, I would look to see the change in nitrates and possibly phosphates. If your nitrates remain near unreadable levels, 12.5 ppm or less, I would consider adding KNO3 in the form of "Green Light Stump Remover". I add Excel as a source of carbon. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |
