i got this plant and on the tag it says "limnophila sessiliflora" as the name and i was wondering if i clip a piece of it and plant it back will the piece grow roots and turn in to a big plant?

The plant can be trimmed and the pieces planted in the substrate to propagate it. You will notice roots that develop along the stem as it grows toward the surface. I have planted a longer length of stem parallel to the bottom of my tank and had multiple stems appear.

how big can the pieces be? can they grow as they float?

It is also known as ambulia. You can take multiple cuttings from a stem but I would simply trim it in half then plant the half beside the orginal stem until you have created a thicket. My tank is 20 inches from substrate to surface so I am planting 10 inch stems after trimming.
