Happiness is new plants.

I stopped by Petsmart (they do have a rather nice plant selection, and for a decent price) and selected a few different plants to try in my tank.

I've got Giant hygrophylia, ludwigia repens, rotala indica and moneywort. We'll see how things go... Hopefully it doesn't get killed off by algae... I'm hoping they'll be fast growing enough to outcompete the stupid algae issues I'm having.

Question... you can trim down giant hygrophylia, right? Cause, like, the tag says you can, and I'm hoping it's right, cause my tank is a 20 long and only about 12" tall.

Unless I am wrong you should be able to trim at both ends without any problems at all.

*grins* Aren't plants fun? I found another one today, only this one needs an ID. LCPS employees aren't terribly helpful sometimes!

Is that top one really Hygrophylia? I have been looking for different types besides wisteria. My Petco occasionally gets them in.

clownloachfan - Yes, that's hygrophylia... or, that's what the lil sign in the pot says. *runs quickly to tropica to make sure* Looks like it. [link=Take a look at Tropica.]http://www.tropica.com/productcard_1.asp?id=050" style="COLOR: #00A0AE[/link]

tankie - glad to hear that... I really want to see this tank fill out, so I'm happy to hear that they grow pretty fast. I just hope my light is high enough to keep the two pink/red ones nicely colorful.

goldfishkeeper - I think we've figured out that they can be trimmed... I just wasn't sure on the hygro, because I've never really gotten a stem plant in a pot, so I wasn't sure what I was dealing with. Thanks though.
