I'm reading a zero nitrate level in my tank.
How does this affect plant growth and what should a good range to shoot for be.

Right now I have Sagritta, Hygrophila (Difformis, Sunset).

My KH level is only 3 and ph is 7.0.

Hi,
Generally speaking, in a well planted tank, you want to
shoot for a reading around 10 for nitrate. However, this
depends upon a relatively large number of plants to control
that. If you have "just a few" then your current reading
is probably fine, and maybe no more than 5.

If the tank needs nitrate, you can purchase some "Stump
Remover" and add it (a very little at a time) allow it
several hours to mix and then retest, and so on.
Be sure to purchase basic stump remover, with no additives
it will be almost pure KHNO3. GRANT'S is one of many
brands that is available in darnd near any plant section
of any hardware store.
