PH Controllers. . . | |
JIsabelle218 Small Fry Posts: 14 Kudos: 10 Votes: 4 Registered: 24-Dec-2005 | Hello, What have been some experiences with PH Controllers. What are some personal opinions of some brands and features. Is Automated Calibration really worth the money? My Milwaukee went cu-put this weekend and I'm just wonder what others are using. I've only heard of one other brand other than Milwaukee, and that's Pinpoint. They are a little more expensive though. Any input? Thanks |

I'm not happy with he calibration set screw seems to fine tune. I talked with people whho use the pinpoints and they like them better.I use Co2 to control the pH in 2 tanks and use buffers in the smaller ones. Kent makes a 7.0 stabilizer that works well and seachem pH regulator has everything in it so it the only thing I have to add to the tap water that comes in at 8.9. I like both and have use both it just who cheaper when I order the monthly supplies. Djrichie "So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish" Douglas Adams |

I've had the monitor running 24/7/365 for nearly 13 years now and other than calibration and changing 9VDC batteries it has worked flawlessly. As to if they are necessary, I guess it depends upon why you are using one. Were I to have one, it would be to regulate my CO2 saturation to 30mg/l for my heavily planted tank. As long as I know my KH and adjust the controller for the desired pH that equals the saturation I want, then things would be fine. Right now, I simply measure my KH and adjust the number of bubbles of CO2/second to give me 30mg/l. If the pH is too far "off" I merely adjust the KH to bring it in line. To clamp my pH at a specific, narrow, range for the fish, is something I've never had to do. It sounds like DJ does. -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

The tanks that run off of CO2 are natural tanks, I just dechlorinate the water and use fertilizer tablets at the ba Djrichie "So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish" Douglas Adams |
