Has anyone used this system? I am thinking about buying one on my Florida vacation for my 29 gallon planted tank.

[link=link]http://bigalsonline.ca/catalog/product.xml?product_id=19237;category_id=3349;pcid1=;pcid2=" style="COLOR: #1C540F[/link] in case anyone doesn't know what system I'm talking about.

They are a bit cheaper south of the border and it would be a sort of xmas present to myself. So, anyone have any opinions/experiences with this product?

I just bought this last week. Seems to work pretty good right now. Im getting around 1 bubble every 2-3 seconds. By the time the bubble reaches the top of the diffuser, it is really small tiny bubble.

So it seems to be diffusing the Co2 properly into the tank.:%)

Only time will tell.:88)

I have seen this used on a Large bowfront, and it contained a diverse bunch of plants that looked wonderful. I just wonder if you could DIY the contents of the mixture they give you for it, instead of buying them. Thinking about getting one if I ever decide to plant my 20 gallon someday.

I think it's worth it, but that is not from personal experience.

Hi,
From the reports I've been reading they are an effective
way to inject CO2 into a tank. As with a DIY system,
they are good within a "range of tank capacities" and
over that you would need to use more than one, or switch
to a bottled gas system.

It offers the advantage of just dropping in a "pill"
every so often to maintain gas production. Perhaps that
ease, is more attractive to some than the worry over
2 liter soda bottles, mixing yeast, sugar, and water,
and the leaks that are notorious in the DIY system.

My personal worry is how long the system and its components
are going to be manufactured. It's a "rage" now but 10
or more years from now will its proponents and users
be forced back to DIY or to step up to the bottled system?

GandB, I have heard of people using a DIY mix in the hagen units. I suppose it gives you the best of both worlds, for a price that is. The relitive certianty that they unit won't spring a leak, with the lower cost of the DIY mixture...I have to admit now that my DIY unit is "disabled" the hagen one is starting to look appealing again .

I use the system and it's worked great for me, I did use the packets before but now I'm making my own mix.
