What should I look for in them? I currently use Nutrafin Plant-Gro and my plants seem to respond well to that, but what would you recommend? Currently have 1.2wpg and no CO2 and mostly lowlight plants, and I am getting more interested in plants now.

When I look into fertilisers, I firstly look into what's in them. I would never trust a fertiliser that only states what's NOT in it (as in "contains no nitrates or phosphates" rather than what's in it. Must give Nutrafin a brownie point for actually giving a guaranteed analysis of their product...

I am using Seachem Flourish and Flourish trace now after using Tropica Master Grow for quite a while. What I mostly like about Flourish is that it's very concentrated -- the recommended dose is 5ml for 250 litres. I was very happy with TMG, but my plants are responding better to Flourish.

If you decide to go for high lights and CO2 tank, then you will need to start thinking about adding everything -- nitrates, phosphates, potassium and perhaps use a trace fertiliser that gives you a bit more than the nutrafin product. With your current set up, Plant Gro seems good enough to me, as shown by the fact that your plants are responding well to it. If you don't want to go for high lights and CO2 just yet but want to give a little boost to your plants you can use Flourish Excel which will give the plants some carbon which they will greatly appreciate.

For my 5ft tank 5ml at every water change. I buy it directly from the person who makes it I have no idea what is in it all I know it works in my tank and I buy it 1lt at a time this is a big saving.

I also use Seachem Flourish Excel 1ml three times a week in my Betta tank.

If you are happy with what you are using and it is working dont change it.

Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
