I would stick to java moss, java fern, anubias plants, and crypt plants. The ones that might grow are the hygro, vals, and amazon sword, but the swords will easily dominate that tank, I'd stay away.

Mmmm, you have 1 watt per gallon (wpg) of lighting with a zero nutrient substrate. You may research the plants at http://www.tropica.com.

Important items for plants are:
- light
- temperature
- substrate
- water

Light is classified as low (under 1.5 wpg), high (above 3 wpg) or moderate. Most plants will uptake nutrients through their roots and therefore require a rich substrate. Many hobbyists will add Fluorite to their substrate or use Eco-complete.

Water temperature, acidity and hardness will also be factors in choosing plants.

With 1 wpg, only use the plants Matty has in his list.

Matty gave you a good list.

Also, keep in mind that some of the plants (vals and swords, for example) might not only take over the tank, they are also getting too tall for it (as your tank is only 12" tall).

If you could up your wattage to 40 (a double fixture) then you could grow for sure quite a few more plants, almost all should grow well in that light.
