Ok the crypt I put in my five g began to melt, very slimey so I moved it to the 12 g with some fertiliser. it looks ok so far......

meanwhile the grim aquascaping disaster that is the five g has a sad looking annubus in it.

since this is traditionally the only plant I can't kill could I keep it in here and add some more? it has a 9W bulb on it.

In all my other tanks it grows well in low light, I was thinking annbus and some floating hornwort?

so is it a plan?

it will be home to three cherry barbs or two molly fry, am trying to make sure some of my favourite molly's off spring survive. once bigger enough they will go in to the main tank.

GFG,

What are you doing ?

Cryps sometimes, actually rather often, melt when planted to a new tank. Most of the time they come back though. I had one melt completely and then grow new leaves. Patience is the name of the game.

I personally am not a fan of Hornwort, it grows like weed and then gets pretty messy. Look at my [link=Nano Tank Post]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Planted%20Aquaria/66877.html?200512060810" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link] and locate Bensaf’s link to some 7 Gallon tanks. That should give you some ideas.

Many Anubias close to each other look very nice, by the way .

ooops Not a fan of the patience.......

it really did look bad. does that mean it will melt all over my 12 as well?]

hmmm.

the hornwort I have is trimmed VERY often and has populated all four of my tanks.......

But aside from that the annubus will work? I like that plant. I haven't killed one yet.

Yep,

I am pretty sure that an Anubias will work, although it might be insulted if it could read and find out that you call it Annubus (sorry).

Do you have any idea what kind of Anubias it is? Nana, Barteri, or what?

If I can't spell it properly what chance is there of me knowing what type it is!

but it looks like yours, so I think Nana.

GFG

edited to add - I looked at the Nano Tanks....... very nice, odd with the thin driftwood, and I didn't think the dark substrate would work but it does. shall buy lots of
A N U B I A S and do something like that (famous last words)

Anubias prefers to grow on a host like DW. I have a 5ft tank full of anubias 90% growing on DW the large varieties are tied to rocks to stop them moving around too much. Once they get established you will always get plenty of young plants.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://
www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/profile.asp?userid=6741" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] for my tank info
