If so what recipe are you using, and how do you gauge if dosage rates of the various components are right? I've seen various suggestions for determining appropriate dosage including monitoring iron or nitrate levels, observing the plants for growth rates & deficiencies or routinely dosing to excess then compensating with large water changes. I'm considering starting a more consistent ferting regime, primarily for my 180g, but if I get decent results I'll probably end up using it on all of my planted tanks. Until now the 180g has been reliant on Dino Dung and fish waste. The tank is still very low light so I don't think I will need to add a carbon source and while I have got quite a few plants growing in the tank atm, I think they would do better with a bit of a boost from a regular ferting regime... PMDD seems to be the most cost effective option atm for achieving this with a big tank. Any thoughts / suggestions / input? G_T Never be afraid to try something new. In the dilution mentioned in all the articles for PMDD it is not enough to cause problems with the fish. Additionally with regular water changes it won't reach a dangerous concentration.
