My 70G has now been setup for a few months.

the main problem i have is algae! lots of it.

the main one is a very dark green thread or hair algae it covers nearly every plant!
the other type is green spot algae on the glass, which i am scrapping off every day!

i'm still not putting in co2! as i can't afford a good system!

is this the problem?

water change 25% weekly
lighting 4x 39W T5 (2 x 6700K, 1x 14000K, 1 x 5600K)
all on for 3 hours a day, the 2 6700K on for 10 hours

dosing liquid fert once week dose as on bottle 5ml for every 5g, (3% K2O and 0.1%Fe) only just started this, algae been in for weeks.

algae eaters 3 x ottos.

what can i do in short term to stop algae.
Lights?
water changes?
liquid carbon source?
ferts?
algae eaters? more ottos, shrimps?

cheers Karl.

Karl,

Sorry to hear that

You do have test kits for N and P, right? What are the values?

Your light is not very bright for most of the day, actually it is pretty low for the most part with just over 1wpg.

I am shooting for ferts imbalance/non-existance. What is the product that you use? Can you like to a description page for it? You are not adding any macros, right?
