Looks like black Cambomba - shame it's not green. So, ok you add the algae killer, algae goes away, what you going to do to stop it coming back? And it will come back if the root cause is not corrected. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

If it were green it would look like a moss wall But congrats on growing that fine mat of algae anyway Let us know how the product turns out. As bensaf said it'll come back if you let the tank go again, but it'll be interesting to see how it works none the less. Does it say on the bottle what the inrgedients are? I wonder if it's just bottled CO2... |

dan76 Big Fish Always Reading Posts Posts: 343 Registered: 08-Jul-2003 | yes the algae is attractive in its own way, you get a lovely rippling effect through the tank. any thoughts from you plant experts what imbalance would cause the algae to reccur, sae do a surprisingly goood job of keeeping the ba under control. i had a filter failure about 6 months ago and all my sae died thats when the ba got out of control. i have never really liked this tank so it gets all the fish that dont fit in with my other tanks thrown in and other than water changes , gravel vac , filter cleaning it doesnt get much mantenance. also i think i must be the only person who really likes mts feel free to flame about being a irrisponsible fish keeper |

lowlight Enthusiast Posts: 166 Kudos: 94 Registered: 03-Apr-2005 | Unfortunatly I'm not a premium member yet so I can't show you a pic of my brush algae. I also have MTS in my tank and I like them. The algae doesn't cover the glass but it sure covers everything else. The 2 SAE in the tank do a good job on it and since I've had them the algae is going away slowly but surely. I heard that brush algae feeds off of the silca in the tank and when the silca is gone the algae dies. I also have to clean the filter intakes quite a bit. Do MTS eat brush algae? |

dan76 Big Fish Always Reading Posts Posts: 343 Registered: 08-Jul-2003 | no mts will not eat ba, nor do they eat any plants , they are excellent at turning the subtrate over and getting rid of dietrus |
