Red Stemmed Anubias?? (now with pics) | |
Gone_Troppo Enthusiast Posts: 285 Kudos: 196 Registered: 13-Mar-2007 | Hi, I was at my LFS today and saw a beautiful large anubias on driftwood. The leaves are solid green, large and flat (ie not wrinkled looking like a coffeefolia variety) but it had these fantastic deep red stems. Just wondering if anyone is able to identify it, or at least give me a list of suspects from this desc I've asked them to hold it for me so I'll probably pick it up tomorrow and can provide pics then if required. Thanks G_T Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic. |

Does it have narrow oval like leaves? Do they look like sharp daggers? Heres a pic of my lancelot. This is the stem or the rhizome or something like that. Heres the leaves A close up of the roots Whole Plant Could this be what youre talking about? These are nice plants, a favorite of the ANubias Variety for me. THey give off nice long and tall leaves, along with smaller ones too! Good eye! COuld you also possibly put in some pix? Maybe that will help. Anyways, i suggest you buy it, a really nice addition to any tank! EDIT: Its sciname is Anubias Frazeri! ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |

I dropped back into the LFS this evening and picked up the anubias.. it wasn't cheap at AU$45 but I think it's nice. I found something that looks similar on an Australian plant suppliers website... it was listed as "Anubias Lisa" (no scientific name listed for any of their plants) which leads me to think that it's a selectively bred hybrid. But hybrid of what I have no idea. A quick search found a few very vague references to the name, but nothing of any significance. I took a few pics before it went into the tank. Unfortunately the red colour of the rhizome and stems isn't turning out as vibrant with the camera as it looks in person. Hopefully you'll be able to get the idea from the pics anyway. If anyone can give me an idea on the species, or mix of species to create the hybrid, it would be great. G_T Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. I like the way it is on the DW, and i cant wait to see it in your tank!!! Well, to me it looks like a hybrid of Anubias Barteri and Anubias Lancelot. I dunno, but the leaves look very similar in shape to mine. Its just so similar to mine.......... Anyway, its a beautiful plant, and i wish you the best with it! ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |
