Does anyone have any experience with rose swords? I just bought one and it's really cool! If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate them! I paid $5 for it and I would really like to know if I have to do anything extra to keep it healthy.
Thanks!

Never heard of it. Sounds like one of those weird names stores make up. Problem is most plants labelled like that are usually not true aquatic plants and not suitable for aquariums long term. These kind of plants will eventually rot and foul up the water.

Can you post a picture or give a description ? This will help give a proper id of the plant and whether or not it's suitable. Tank size and lighting specs will help also.

Actually there is a rose sword. [link=http://www.aquazoo.co.uk/page.cfm/type=Plants/PlantID=107]http://www.aquazoo.co.uk/page.cfm/type=Plants/PlantID=107" style="COLOR: #00C0C0[/link]
Never seen it here but azgardens sells it for $5-$7 depending on size so unless it's a really tiny plant I'd say that's a good find. Swords take alot of nutrients from the substrate and can benefit alot from fertilizer spikes or tabs shoved under the roots.

Tropica.com has the same description for e. rose. I wonder who copied whom for the description?

Anyhow, most swords are heavy root feeders. See "nutritious bottom" in the description. Fertilizer tabs will work well. Note that light is medium to very hard and that this is an "easy" plant.

Well, learned about a new plant todayLooks real nice.

Bob,
Aquazoo get their pics and descriptions directly from Tropica. There's a credit on the page. Tropica have a very good network with most of the European online sites that sell plants. You are really getting the plants from Tropica not from the site, the sites are just middlemen

Don't know if you can get Tropica plants in the U.S. ? I've recently discovered that Tropica have a base here in Indonesia for research and some sales. Managed to get hold of some of their plants and I have to say the quality is absolutely excellent. Everything I've got have been beautiful specimens, never got anything that was less then perfect, and as I'm sure you know starting out with a healthy plant is half the battle. Highly reccomended.
