Does it stay small? How big will it grow? I am looking for a plant like this to go in my 10g. I know amazons get too big as do ozelot swords. In the picture on the site where I would order it, it looks pretty small...but I know it could be a young plant. If this won't work, then does anyone have any suggestions for a focal point plant (can't think of what i wanted to say)? I am trying to aquascape my 10g and make it look a little better. I had bad luck with a piece of DW so I took that out and now it lacks a focal point. Any suggestions would be very helpful! /:' |

The size depends on the light intensity, and in poor light it is quite a small plant. It looks best in small groups. Echinodorus parviflorus 'Tropica' was named after Tropica in 1985 by the Danish botanists Niels Jacobsen and Lauritz Holm-Nielsen. Height is listed as 5-15 cm with a wingspread of 12-20 cm. The width of the plant may give you some problems in a 10 gallon... ![]() ![]() __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

I had an ozelot sword in the 10 before and had to move it because it got too wide. So, don't want to go there again. What would you suggest as a medium size plant that is like a sword, but not so wide? (if that makes any sense ![]() |

Looks like a sword, but it supposedly tops out at 10 cm in height. Mine get taller and spread by rhizome. The brown varietal gets about twice as high in time. Great plants, easy to care for, don't care about light, temp, pH or hardness. What's not to love? ![]() ![]() __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

It'll stay way smaller then a C.Wendtii. I have 2 in a 5 gal ! The size is very light dependent, if the lights not too bright they grow well but just a lot smaller. They are a very size plant and very easy to grow. I've had one for 2 years and it's no more the 4" and across and a 11/2-2" tall. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

I have 2wpg on the 10g, so not too bright of light. Plants do seem to grow in that tank better than my big tanks with over 2wpg though. I already have 2 small C. wendtiis in the 10. They recently melted, but grew back, so they are small. I know these can get tall because two of my wendtii (reds) in my 55g have leaves that are about 6-7 inches long. I want something that is wide and will fill up space, without taking up the whole tank. I think I will get one and see how it does. If it gets too wide then I can move it to my 55g or my 29g. Thanks for the help! /:' |
