It can be trimmed and the tips replanted to create dense stands of plants. It likes light, is slow growing, could care less about hardness and tolerates temps from 60F to 82F. A second choice would be Hygrophila Difformis. This plant can be floated or planted. Very tolerant pH and hardness tolerant with a temperature range of 72F to 86F, it will suck up nitrites and nitrates in your aquarium. with bright light I have had it grow out the top of my aquaria without trimming. Neither plant is dark green but provides interesting textures for a back wall. I've used this with Polysperma and looked good. It's a got much smaller, rounder and darker green leaves then the Hygro. Pretty much just as easy to grow. The leaves have a nice pinkish color on the underside. It grows a lot slower then hygro so easier to keep. It like to grow up an angle, kind of outwards and upwards, much easier to shape and make bushy then the hygro. It's a good indicator for Iron, if not enough the leaves will be a much lighter green yellowish. Nice plant I've always had some. Liked it so much I moved it from the back to the front ![]() Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |
