I have established a 10 gallon planted aquarium with a few plants along with slate caves that has developed an odd type of algae. This unwelcome visitor appeared two weeks after the initial introduction of the flora and has persisited ever since that time. After having to treat the tank for ich the water seems clouded and the pleco I have added has not consumed the algae. Please help me identify this addition to my aquarium and if there is any steps I could take without having to add an artificial algae killer. Also does anyone have any idea why ich medication would cloud the water.

If it's green....It's probably hair algae. I'm having the same problem. Sorry, I can't help. But I'd figure I identify it for you.

Hi Guys,
Check out this site:

http://www.wetwebmedia.com/PlantedTksSubWebIndex/algcontags.htm

This should help you identify the algae, determine how to
eliminate it, and keep it from returning.
