1) My 120 Litre tanks plants thrive - grow like mad - I have no Broad leaf plants in here - only Hair alge and snails - currant is fastish

yet my

2) 240 Litre is clear (no snails nor alge problems) yet plants grow SLOW - currant is slowish

Isn't it funny how 120 litre supports on fine leaved plants yet the 240 litre likes the broader varieties!!

The 120 Litre Plants multiply like mad - yet the 240 Litre won't reproduce apart from the Crypt I have in there? I have been waiting months for the 240 Litre to produce "runners" to no avail. I cant transpose any of the 120 Litre plants in case I contaminate it with the hair alge!!

Anyone any ideas how I can bend the rules of nature - LOL

I'd be willing to bet that you have less light (WPG) in the larger tank.

I also would be looking at the lighting type, & age, as well as the depths of the two tanks.

One problem i have had is that my plants are planted too deeply, If the plants are growing then you may need to pull them up 1/4". This has made my chain swords and Sag send out runners. If they are barely sustaining then you would need to look at lighting and ferts.

Thanks - it could well be the problem

The 240 Litre is a bow fronted Jewel that came as a bog standard set up

Would have thought Jewel would have supplied enough lighting density to grow plants.

The set up comes with two tubes - do you suggest I change the second tube with another "daylight" fitment?

Can someone tell me the Wattage for a 240 litre?

Regards

Dave
