I got a digital camera for Christmas and now have some pictures to share of my two tanks. The 25g really needs some work but please be kind, I was a beginner when I started and am still nowhere near an intermediate on aquascaping. That's why I lurk about here, sifting for insights and ideas to eventually put in my tanks. Also I am a novice photographer, still at the point and shoot stage. Just today I figured out how to lower the resolution and how to upload pics. So here goes.
This is the 25 gallon

And this is the 10g

Other photos are available at photobucket here

And lastly here

Again please don't be too harsh, but please do be honest.

I think the 10 looks awesome!

The 25 is not bad, but I tend to favor more naturalistic looking setups these days. Of course, my tastes change every time I get a new tank :-)

One of the changes I will be making to the 25 is to change the gravel to natural gravel. I am also looking at a painted background as opposed to the plastic ones on both tanks. There is algae, no-one is seeing spots. I hadn't scraped when I started playing with the camera, after being away for a week. Must do that.

luvmykrib,

I think you are on the right track, not only with the tanks as they are right now but also with the identification of potential improvements (like the gravel in the larger tank).

I like your 10G very much. You managed to make a small tank look big, that is excellent .

When you say painted background, do you mean painting the glass? Some people do that, but most of the time in black.

Thanks for fixing the links, I'm not sure why that happened. Do you have to be signed in properly to make it work?

As well as changing the gravel I need to figure out what to do about the water sprite floater taking over the top of the tank. The thing is massive and it's blocking light from reaching below it. I was going to try anchoring it in in front of the castle, a little water sprite forest. It doesn't seem to want to stay in the gravel though. I wanted wisteria but that's all they had.

In the spring the castle may be history along with the gravel. I'm thinking a rock formation taller than the one on the other side. The krib likes the cave and I'm getting some cories soon as well that would enjoy a cave system.

I was either going to paint the back of the tanks or paint some styrofoam and attach it to the outside of the tank. My house temp never stays stable and I like to keep it cool year-round so I was thinking that would insulate it,especially if I decide to put it against an outside wall. Where the tank is the kids and dog run by it every time they go to and from the living room. Both tanks are in high traffic areas, but in my house the only low-traffic areas are the bedrooms. Much as I'd love to have a tank in my bedroom I wouldn't get to enjoy it as much because I'm only in it for sleeping.

luvmykrib,

Yeah, painting some form of insulation might be a good idea, at least until you are sure what color it should be as scrubbing it off the tank can be a pain in the neck.

You're welcome.

You don't have to be signed into anything special,
simply click on the Easy Markup Button called LINK in the lower left corner of the page when you are making a post or reply. A box will come up, then paste your link in there... It will put the html extensions in for you to make it a clickable link.
Then make sure it's where you want it..
