Hi,
In case others reading don't know where the "Lemon tetra"
thread is (I don't) and also want to know, the plant
grows from the center.
Thus the outside leaves are the longest and are
the ones to be trimed. Simply snip off the outer leaves
from the base of the plant taking care to leave the
crown of the plant unscared. New, replacement leaves
grow from the center, and progress towards the outside
as more new leaves sprout.

Or, if your vals work like all other vals and send out numerous runners, you can just keep removing the older, larger ones and let the younger grow on and keep repeating this over and over again...

So here I am once more...

You can just trim the long leaves shorter like trimming hair, the leaves grow from the base. No harm to the plant really, they'll continue to grow new leaves.

I have decided just to move them to another tank. I dont like the idea of it running other sprouts cause after awhile it will take over and be a pain to remove later, which wll be soon cause I have CO2 and Compact Fluorescent. Thanks.
