Water Wisteria Propagation | |
checkerboard Fingerling Posts: 16 Kudos: 14 Votes: 8 Registered: 05-Oct-2006 | My wisteria has been in my tank for about 3 months. It's 1cm from reaching the surface. The top +15cm contains healthy leaves. The leaves at the bottom +15cm have all died except for a new leaf that is staring to form. I know I could uproot the wisteria and plant the top but let say I keep the bottom and cut off the top: How will it develop? Will the new leaf start a new stem? Or will more leaves pop-up on the old stem? |

It will shoot new growths from the lower parts of the plant when it is pruned. When planting the new cuttings remove all the leaves at the lower level, by that I mean the leaves from the stem that will be buried in the substrate. What "can" happen if not removed they will rot in the substrate and this will cause problems. I hope that clears that up for you.
