No luck had very few plants. I then walked across the road to a small shoping center to a smaller pet store eight tanks and two are plants. I saw a large Anubias barteri but $20 the owner oftered to take it out to show me as I thought it had a varigation on the leaves (wrong just the light) anyway when she showed it to me it was perfect but still to costly. She then noticed a smaller piece and said sorry it had broken of. At that moment I said OK I will take it. The so called broken piece was Anubias afzelli. Aprently it arrived with the last shipment of a special order of barteri. Both plants are very healthy and in better condition than the AQU plants. I have floated them and in two weeks time I will tie them seperatly to rocks. Yes more Anubias for the Anubias Jungle Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Nana and they are all tiny ![]() I'm up to 9 now all doing well each gets about one new (small)leaf a week. I find I have to be very careful where I place them, they are martyrs for the algae ! I'd dearly love to have the tied onto my driftwood but as I say if they are in direct light the lagae just seems to settle on them. I have them tied to small rocks and am using them in the foreground under the shade of the crypt leaves and they are much happier. I've tried to vary the heights of the rocks to make them look bigger and to give an ascend and descending effect rather then just line them up in a row. If I did manage to get my hands on a big one I know I won't be able to resist buying it but not sure where i'd put it where it would be safe from algae attacks ![]() ![]() ![]() Any tips Keith ? I think you should tell the members (general location) where you are and at what prices it certainly shock a few. I wish I could buy them at that price in Aust. That is the only problem I have noticed with the amount I have "Algae" I have reduced my plant feeding to 3x5ml per week and this helps also the young SAEs. As you know they get fat and lazy and prefer other foods. Also my BNs seem to have no effect at all. For those who dont know I do not use CO2 Heading west of you Bernard in 8 weeks. I looked at some fishing trips there BUT and a BIG BUT I dont think I could push my luck with the wife that far. Just that too far off Aust waters. The most expensive fish I've seen are Discus, they can run to $5 for a good one ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There goes my sympathy vote out the window ![]() OK, Keith you'll have to give me a bigger clue, the only landfall I can think of west of Indonesia is Africa !!!! You tell Marge that Indonesia is only a hop and a skip from Aus, Bali is practically an Australian colony! And I guarantee she'll have a big handsome Irishman (I'm sure I could find one somewhere) as a bodyguard and my wife would shop her 'til she drops while the boys fish ![]() Back to topic, yep, the Anubias are ![]() Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

Must be geting W&E mixed up. North of the tip of Aust Torris Strait Fishing naturally, and diving. The other thing I've noticed is that the fish also seem to be generally more healthy. Being in the tropics a lot of fish in the trade are native here (Gourami, Rasboras, Loaches etc)and there's a lot of fish farms in the area that export around the world, for those that are not available we are only one hour from the world centre of the Aquarium Fish trade , Singapore. So basically the fish in my tank have gone thru very lttle movement and handling and a lot less stress. Whereas the fish you buy in a US, European or Australian LFS have gone thru a gruelling ordeal and a lot of stress to get there. I've flown to the US from here and I felt like I'd been trampled on by an elephant, imagine how the fish must feel ! Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |
