Most of the plants game from my past tanks from MI but I did order a few in from some people online. The background is planted with Vals to give you some idea. The pictures! http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/55G%20new/ More info to come later... Let me know what you think! 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

Looks like you are using a mix for Flora Max substrate with another form. I have the same Flora Max in my 10 gallon planted also with a mix of onyx sand. Your tank is looking good, how long have you had it set up now? Is that a C.balansae (??spelling??) you have in there. Never seen one in real life, but I have just ordered a few on-line. Looking forward to seeing this tank mature. Cheers TW |

The planting is very interesting as well . Did you use that programme to design it ?Looks like you've got plenty of body in there for an early planting so should grow in very well . Are you planning on any more plants or just see how it goes ? Couple of red plants might add some highlights . Any plans for any other residents? I see you have a Redfin Shark , I love em as well . Looks great , Well done and look forward to seeing the tank mature . Garry |

Once again, thanks for stopping in and looking. As always I don't have my own camera yet so pictures will be few and far between. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

I know my camera is pretty much rubbish (compared to LF's & Jeff's) but even so, it does take pictures & was pretty cheap (the most basic of the Kodak easyshare series). Why not check out ebay - you might pick up something really special there. You know we always like to see your pictures. Cheers TW |

Have you tried to grow it before? Mine came as extras with another plant that a bought from someone online. One of the plants floated up and was lost... The other two haven't done much yet. The Co2 has only been running for a couple of days now though. TW, I probably should look on ebay for a camera. I just don't want to end up with something junky. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | So.....no bicycle over the moon?Nope... Well the set up might change a bit. I have some BBA taking off pretty quick. I am going to try and get my hands on a fair amount of fast growers. I really should have started out with some in the tank... I am also going to up the CO2 a bit and also dose Flourish Excel. The lighting will also be cut back to less than the 6 hours a day they are running now. I have also had some in put form fish patty that she might post here too. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

fish patty Fish Addict Posts: 539 Kudos: 223 Votes: 255 Registered: 04-Oct-2006 | ok.......since my name was mentioned I guess I will post. I was just telling wingsdic that I would like to see a path or empty spot in his set up, to break up the field of vision. Or an interest point, if you will. I thought a good easy spot might be to take out that grey rock that is under the valls. That is what I would like to see in his tank anyway. I do love all his plants & rocks & driftwood! It's just that they were all in a line & I like variety, as in broken scenery. It may just be my personal preference. I think wingsdic would like your opinions on this matter. So, what do you all think? |

Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | fish patty, Thanks for posting! What we have been PM-ing about. BTW the vals that you are talking about are Crytocoryne crispatula var. balansae. Here is a picture that shows both the crypts and vals that were in my 40G. The crypts have a brownish color to them and some texture while the vals are thin and green. Just so you know. I am not picking on you or anything. http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/40%20gallon%20part%20XVIII/?action=view¤t=Cherry-1.jpg 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

fish patty Fish Addict Posts: 539 Kudos: 223 Votes: 255 Registered: 04-Oct-2006 | Oh! No prob. wingsdic! I appreciate the education! So what I am calling valls are really crypts! I was under the impression that crypts were smaller plants that people used in the foreground a lot. Now I know they can be tall too. Well, what an interesting plant! I just got two kinds of valls myself. As I understand it, valls are fast growers that people have to constantly be thinning out of their tanks. I just read about your crypt & it said it was a slow grower. So that crypt looks like it would be a good substitute for someone who wants the looks of valls, but not the constant thinning out? I love the wavy look of it too. I won't be forgetting this plant! Thanks for the education! |

Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | Well there are not any new pictures. The algae issue is getting much better. I think the decrease in light, increase in Co2 and the addition of Excel did wonders. Growth growth is pretty slow as I have pretty much all slow growers. The Amazon Sward is starting to put out leaves almost to the top of the tank. I have a felling that in short time it will out grow the tank. The vals are growing in the back ground but are still to short to be seen when looking strait on into the tank. As for fish in the tank. I know have: 2 BN plecos 1 Clown pleco 2 Skunk loaches 2 Giant Danios 1 Rainbow Shark All the fish seem to be doing pretty well. I have not seen the Danios spawn again since their first night in the tank. If they do I am guessing that the other fish will eat the eggs. The Male BN has been hiding in his log for the past three days. I have now seen him out at all. I am guessing that he is guarding eggs or fry. This is similar behavior to the BN that spawned in the tank at LFS I worked at. I would be on cloud 9 if something comes out of it. Shrimp: I have spotted at least two of the 10 or so RCS that I put in the tank at the beginning. That's all for now. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |
