No Teeth, what else will we discover about each other in these threads? I don't even want to think about it.

A hair like structure (growth) is strange for me as well, except of course if it is thread or staghorn algae.

Your link is invalid. Could it possibly be some type of moss growing of of it like java?

Flowering Water Wisteria
Mine doesn't look like this. If this is the flower for Wisteria then thats not what is going on.

Edit: Fixed the link!

Yes its a theme tank LOL
i dont know what theme it is but it has
a "reef" decoration you can see in the pic, and a "fish service station" decoration.
Maybe a reef service station theme? LOL

I think then what is happening is your wisteria
is flowering! I didnt know they did, but hey,
doesnt mean it cant happen.
If it looks like flowers, it probably is flowers.
I know some plants, like houseplants, only bloom when
they are really rootbound and really happy.
I cant wait to see a picture!

So_Very_Sneaky,

I have those in my tank but what I am talking about are not those. I will get a pic up as soon as I can lure my friend over with his dig. camera.

Well, it could be that your plant is sprouting babies
off to one side.
You really need to take a pic.
I have never seen wisteria do anything other than grow water roots off the side, which look like very thin,
white or brown threads. Sometimes these will grow new plants.
Let me get a picture of the ones on my wisteria to compare. Be right back.

Edit:
Ok got some pics, is this what you have.

I have a few strands of the stuff that is around 4 inches long. It is quite thin. There are only a few strands tangled here and there. I will get a picture up as soon as I can get a hold of a cammera.

Right now I have some vine type things growing out of my wisteria. Does anyone else have such things?? They kind of look like they have really really really little plants growing off of them too. I will try to post a picture the next time I steel my friends cammera. (probably later this week)

I would really like to see a pic of that. That will tell the story.

This is a very thin (thin as the hair on your head (if you have it there))
Yes, got plenty of hair, no teeth, but plenty of hair

tetratech,

It is not a root growing from the stems. I have quite a few of though pulling the plant into an opening so it can get light. This is a very thin (thin as the hair on your head (if you have it there)) and it has little very very small plants or maybe even flowers that are growing on it. I can't really tell where they are coming from but they seem to be all over entangled in my wisteria. Hope this helps a little.

Edit: Maybe Donkynutz can give a better discription to help me out.

Sorry got to this late. Where you see these vine-like things, is the plant growing vertical or along the substrate. I get alot of root develop along the stems that grow horizontial and then I get a new little plant. That's pretty much how it spreads along the bottom.

If this was a plant growing out of water I would call them arial roots. Therefore if on a water plant I assume they are called water roots.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://

The vine things you are seeing
are called water roots.
They grow at the joints between branches
and allow the wisteria to take
nutrients out of the water. This commonly happens
in most wisteria plants, but espescially in nutrient
lacking substrates. A good push in the gravel plant
spike (I use Jobes plant spikes for lush ferns and houseplants), will help the plant get more nutrients,
and help to slow the growth of the water roots.
