![]() | Yellow Leaves |
aratalp![]() Small Fry Posts: 3 Kudos: 2 Votes: 0 Registered: 26-Feb-2007 | Some leaves of my Echinodorus Tenellus and Hygro Polysperma Rosa turned yellowish. I've also got a Valisneria Spiralis which is doing perfectly fine. Tank parameters as follows: NO3 = 0, NO2 = 0, GH > 10, PH = 7.2 though can't be too sure as consecutive readings show varying results. Anyhow, I've also got three lyretail mollies in the tank. What do I need to do to avoid leaves turning yellow and ensure healthy plant growth? |

Here is a site that you might want to keep and refer to from time to time: http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_nutrient.htm Frank ![]() -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

Most plants do not like salt. I think vallisneria will tolerate low levels of it though. |

From what I gather as a result, seems its to do with low nitrogen levels, so will have to buy some more fish soon. Thanks for the help once again. |

Give some thought to what you have and how you like the current tank with its current occupants. If you are (were) satisfied and just wanted greener plants, then I would go the fertilizer way rather than trying to cram more fish into the tank. Lightly stocking a tank, and feeding just what they need is the easiest way to successful fish keeping. Read the site I included in my first post, and purchase a bottle of either the Flourish, or Tetra, series of fertilizer that will fit the needs of your plants. Dose the tank with that, carefully following the instructions and keep the light on for no more than 10 hours. Change the water every couple of weeks, and vacuum the non planted sections with each vacuuming. Give it a month, and see how things are going. When this started to happen with my dwarf chain sword, i simply added some aquarium fertiliser and they had gotten their proper color in just a few days. Good luck with your plants.
