I've recently planted a bunch of swords into my tank and the leaves are yellowing.

The tank is relatively new, but they are sitting on a laterite based substrate, and they have root tabs in there as well.

Whats causing this??

Might be that they where grown emerged, and they are loosing their leaves to grow submerged ones. I had once a sword that did that, and i kept returning it to my LFS, till the guy told me how they where grown emerged and asked me to be patiant till it grew new ones, it did, and now it's a beutifull plant.

*agrees with falstaf*

Also you might not have enough light. How many watts per gallon do you have? Are you using any ferts?

Swords need 3 to 4 watts per gallon minimum.

Hi,
Sword plants are classed as heavy root feeders. They are
also sensitive to being moved and when moved and replanted
will consume their stored nutrients until the plant and
its roots are settled in its new environment.
The yellowing of the leaves could be the result of the
transplanting or low light (should be 2+ wpg).
Trim off the dead & yellowing leaves and let it settle in.
It should grow new leaves and thrive given the right
conditions.
