Ok, I have 'justa' few questions LOL..

Right now I have a low light setup on my 40 gal (36Lx18Wx14H) 55 watts. (1.3 wpg) There's a 24 inch double strip with a pair of 18" 15w T8's. And a '36' inch Marina single light strip (It's really about 31" length) holding a 30" 25w T12. I pulled that strip off my 90 gal. It lights up the substrate better then the double strip.. I can't seem to find tubes for the Marina fixture.
Question 1: Any idea where to find some, and at least have 5000K ? If I could find some, I could settle for 1.3 wpg one foot down to the flourite substrate..

Question 2: There's a 36" Coralife fixture for sale, a 96W single tube power compact flouro.. I understand these lights have a greater intensity, but will one of these single tubes give me an even light distribution from the front to back of the tank ? (18 inch) If so, this would give me 2.4 wpg which is the ideal amount of light for me right about now.

The coralife strip is on sale, here's a link..

What I need, is light, fast, all my bulbs are old at the moment.. If I can't find the 30" T12 I have to do something else fast. Any other options ?
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi,
I don't know where in Canada you live as far as proximity
to Pet stores. You could try online at places such as
Drsfostersmith.com or BigAls.com for your replacement light
bulbs. The compact flourscent, as long as the fixture is
centered on your tank, will provide plenty of light.
The corners will probably not have the full 2.4 wpg on the
substrate, but then you could put low light plants there
such as crypts to make up for that.

Hi Frank, hope all is well !

Well I found 2 Sylvania 15 watt 18" T8 Daylight's for 5.99 each in a Hardware store. 6500K rating, 76 CRI.. Pretty happy about that ! Now to track down the 30" T12, that's the one I'm having trouble finding.

Big Al's site has 30" T10 and 30" T8.. No 30" T12, Foster's didn't have em either, darn !

Never heard of a T10, same width as the T8 or is it in between the T8 and T12 ? Would it fit T12 fixture ?

Fixtures are only made for length and wattage specifications. Any T(whatever) should fit into a fixture as long as it is the correct wattage and length.

That would depend on the ballast. The ballasts on my flouro's say to use t-8 only. I put a t-12 in there one day, and it only burned about half as bright as it should have.

You should be able to put T8 or T10 in a T12 as far as I know. A T12 in either of those will flicker and burn the ballast out quite quickly.
