ok, so i have some bacopas that i havent had for more than a week or so and its time to give my gravel a good vacum, but my plants havent rooted yet so the will float around a little if the gravel gets moved, whats the best way to vac the gravel, shld i put the plants into a bucket of water while i vac or what, thanks in advance

what i usually do..i leave the plants bundled(with their lead) inside the tank till they get roots..then i plant them...but..u may want to plant them as well...just make sure when u gravel vac at the base of this plant...not to distrub...by digging too much...just..swoop the vac on top...making as less disturbance on the gravel as possible.

if your whole tank is planted how do you vac the gravel???

KJ,

You vacuum by holding the end slightly over the gravel to suck up mulm and waste. If you are using a Python or a vacuum with a larger barrel, you can wave the vacuum barrel over the gravel to loosen up the mulm and waste to get it water borne. If you have well rooted plants such as echinodorus, you can gently insert the barrell slightly into the substrate.
